I use 10mm needles for a more flowy look. But 9mm will look great too. I'm actually using this last size for scarves and sweaters. For crochet pieces also between 9 and 10mm

I usually use 2.5 to 3 hanks for a baby blanket and 4 to 5 for a throw.

Finished product can be hand washed (or delicate cycle) in cold water. Lay flat to dry.
